MAKE YOUR HOUSE SMELL DELICIOUS || simmer pot instructions

The smell of cinnamon, cloves and citrus simmering on the stove makes the entire house smell like Christmas! I love making, gifting and using simmer pots….especially this time of year!

First, you will want to assemble your ingredients!

~ dried citrus ( I like to dry oranges in my dehydrator, lemons and grapefruit smell delicious, too!)

~ fresh herbs (rosemary and bayleaf are my favorites)

~ cinnamon sticks

~ whole cloves

~ dried or fresh cranberries

The exact measurements don't matter much; it's an art, not a science :)

Add water: Place the ingredients in a saucepan or pot and fill it about three-quarters full with water, enough to cover the contents.

  1. Heat: Bring the water to a low simmer.

  2. Simmer: Leave the pot uncovered to allow the deliciousness to fill your home!

  3. Maintain: Check the water level every few hours and add more water as needed to prevent the pot from boiling dry and burning the ingredients.

  4. Re-use: You can continue to use the same pot of ingredients for a few days. Simply turn off the heat when you're done, let it cool, cover, and store it on the stove until the next use.

It’s such a sweet and simple thing, but I love that it fills my home with the smell of the holidays! I hope you love it, too!

If you want to give them as gifts (they make great hostess gifts!) just fill a cello bag with a variety of the ingredients, tie with a bow, and write or type instructions on a cute tag.

For my tags, I wrote: Add ingredients to saucepan and add approximately 4 cups of water. Simmer over low heat. Enjoy!

Let me know if you make these for gifts….I love making and giving home made gifts!
