PAINTED CHECKERED FLOOR || the power of paint

We have been married for 24 years - right after we got married I could’t wait to start making Matt’s house OUR home. We didn’t have much money, but I had the desire to work hard and I knew the difference that paint could make!! I think I painted every surface in that 1400 sf. ranch style home, within 3 months of moving in :) I still feel that way about paint, I am just not quite as ambitious to paint every surface. Ha!

BEFORE - Guest House stairway

When we first moved to Westerlook, one of our first projects was to remodel the Guest House and get in on the short term vacation rental market. The “downstairs” bedroom required a pretty major remodel, with so much time going into that, we just put a fresh coat of paint on the concrete stairwell and called it good.

AFTER

I have wanted to lighten up the stairwell space for a while, but just haven’t made it a priority. Well, a few weeks ago I started the project in between guests and I am so happy with how it turned out!

It cost me $200 in concrete paint and a lot of time (mostly because I definitely struggle when it comes to measurements and straight line;) but I love how the space is lighter, brighter and has a bit more personality! I am so happy with it and reminded, once again, of how much I love the power of paint!
