EASY HOME MADE YOGURT || in the crock pot

We eat a lot of yogurt around here - in smoothies, with granola, as a yummy treat, and the list goes on. I am usually making little tweaks, and trying new recipes, but I thought I would share the recipe I have been using lately!

INGREDIENTS:

1 gallon of (raw:) milk

1-4 cups (raw:) cream - optional

1/2 cup of plain, full fat yogurt

DIRECTIONS:

Pour milk and cream into crockpot and turn the crockpot on low. Allow milk/cream to heat up to 180. Once temperature reaches 180, turn off heat, remove the lid and let it cool to 110.

Once the milk/cream mix is cooled to 110, skim the top layer off. This helps your yogurt to be smooth! Remove 1-2 cups of the milk/cream mixture and place in a bowl. Add 1/2 cup of plain, full fat yogurt to your 1/2 cups of milk and mix together. Once mixed, pour back into the crockpot and combine the yogurt mixture with your milk/cream mixture.

Put the lid on and place the crock pot (I remove mine from the outer component) and place inside your oven with the light on. Leave in the oven for 18-24 hours.

If you like your yogurt thick, pour it into a cheese cloth and strain in the refrigerator for 12-36 hours. The longer you let it strain, the thicker it will become.

If you like it sweet, add honey! I like to mix mine in the mixer as it makes it super smooth and like a rich and creamy treat!

Let me know if you make yogurt in the crock pot! It’s so fun and easy!!!
